September 23, 2004 - James earned the right to compete against nine speakers for the coveted title of World Champion of Public Speaking by taking top honors at a 10-state public speaking competition recently held in Jacksonville, Fla. James' presentation brought the audience of 2000 to their feet as he inspired them to ride the “roller coaster ride of life”, seek fulfillment through all it’s ups and downs, and never give up. "The Ride of Life", James' speech, was a beautifully written speech that took the listener on a roller coaster though the ups and downs of life experiences. Packed into a heart-pounding 7 minutes, James lifted the audience up from the disappointment of shattered hopes to the realization that it is possible to transcend beyond failure to even far more triumphal successes. All of this while taking the listener though an adrenaline laced tour-de-force, powered by brilliant vocal inflection, gestures and theatrical craftsmanship.
