How To Kill The Fear of Public Speaking

One of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to kill the fear of public speaking before it even begins is so simple that people dismiss it.

They kill off the cure without even giving it a go.

How sane is that?

Thankfully, you're still looking, so there is a very good chance that you really will apply the secret to killing off the fear of public speaking when you find it. Won't you?

Excellent!

Now how you apply it depends on where you are on the fear curve. Ideally, we can reach people before they manufacture the fear in themselves. If we can't, it just means the process will take a little longer.

So - are you ready?

OK - here it is.

The secret of how to kill the fear of public speaking is to enjoy your time in the spotlight. And you do that by being put under absolutely NO pressure to perform.

Let's say we have a group of children preparing for some form of presentation - perhaps a school play, or a musical recital, or compering a class function.

Have them, one by one, walk onto the full stage where they will be performing (or preferably one just like it) - with a full audience in attendance. Their sole task is to walk on, pause at center stage and face the audience. Spend a few seconds quite still, just soaking up the audience and absorbing the fact that the audience members are there to support them and to share in the enjoyment of their success. Then turn, and calmly walk off the stage.

A time or two of this will transform even the most petrified of potential public speakers into performers totally at ease in front of an audience.

So simple. And so effective.
